Cocena Welfare Trust

After the inauguration of COCENA in April, 2007, the overwhelming response by the Civil Engineers provoked to start a Welfare trust to serve members. COCENA Welfare Trust was started on September 2008 and now has 110 trust members.

Aim & Objectives of COCENA Welfare Trust:

  • To provide Technical and Professional Guidance to Civil Engineers by conducting technical seminars and workshops
  • To establish training centre and laboratory to serve the needs in Construction industry
  • To establish a Civil Engineering Institution and research centre to develop skills and Upgrading the knowledge of Civil Engineering
  • Providing employment opportunities for the unemployed Civil Engineers
  • To provide financial assistance to COCENA members for medical treatments for major diseases, surgeries, injuries etc.
  • To provide insurance cover for members for loss of life by accidents, to support deceased members family
  • To promote Civil Engineering excellence in colleges by giving scholarships, conducting workshops, talent search competitions and career guidance programmes to Civil Engineering students
  • To build, establish and administer the buildings for COCENA, training centres, auditoriums, trade fair halls, etc.

Activities of COCENA Welfare Trust:

  • Financial assistance to Er. Siranjeevi Kumar's family, while he deceased of heart attack on 31.12.08
  • Talent Search competitions 2009 was held on 20.03.09 at Ardra hall for College students. Technical Paper Presentation Competition on topics, 1.Green buildings and 2.Recent trend in Concrete technology were presented by students. Cash awards of Rs 10,000 each for I prize winners Miss. Gayathri Adhinarayanan and Mr P.Senthil Kumar and Rs.5000 each for II prize winners to Mr Parameswara Pandian and Ms Prameena
  • Personal accident Insurance Scheme for COCENA members introduced on 20.08.2008. which covers RS.50,000 for medical expenses by accidents and Rs. 5,00,000 for death due to accident. The scheme was launched jointly with Barathi AXA insurance Company.
  • Our member Er.D.Saigopal passed away on 02.12.09. His personal accident insurance amount Rs.5,25,000 claimed and paid to his wife Mrs.G.Vijayalakshmi
